Giving Back at Morningside Park

SGSNY Members Volunteering

On Saturday, September 6th, members of the St. George’s Society of New York came together for a rewarding morning of volunteering at Morningside Park. We gathered at 9:00am and, alongside our friends from the Friends of Morningside Park, Inc., rolled up our sleeves to help restore the garden.

Over the course of the morning, volunteers weeded, cleaned flowerbeds, and cleared out the summer overgrowth. To our surprise, one of our members even uncovered a hidden tomato plant. By 11:30am, the garden was refreshed and ready to be enjoyed by the community.

To celebrate our hard work, we headed to The Fox Harlem for lunch and drinks, a perfect way to toast the spirit of teamwork and community.

This event was especially meaningful as part of our renewed effort to create group volunteering opportunities for members post-pandemic. Not only did we make a tangible impact on the park, but we also strengthened connections within our SGSNY community.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the volunteers who joined us, and to the Friends of Morningside Park, Inc. for their partnership in making this day such a success.

We are looking forward to our next volunteer outing in November: SGSNY Holiday Volunteering - Pie Drive on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
