Our Community
255 Years of British Culture in NYC
St. George’s Society of New York (SGSNY) has been the home for British community and culture in New York City for over 255 years. We organize over twenty events each year for our members and friends, connecting the UK to NYC. As a nonprofit social society, our members support our three charitable programs, serving the Commonwealth and UK community in New York.
Home for British Expats, Anglophiles, and Friends!
Looking to celebrate Pancake Day or Bonfire Night here in the States? Are you a whiz at pub quizzes?
SGSNY membership offers something for everyone! From young Brits just starting their careers in NYC, to expats who have been in New York City for decades, to Americans who studied abroad in the UK, our members share a love for British culture and a commitment to giving back to our three charitable programs: Beneficiary Program, Scholarship Program, and the Family Support Fund.
Giving Back is in Our DNA
Since 1770 we have supported British and Commonwealth immigrants in New York City. Our programs have changed with the times. Today we provide rent assistance for senior citizens, scholarships for final-year college students, and emergency assistance for UK families accessing life-saving pediatric cancer treatment in NYC
When you join SGSNY, you’re becoming part of a community committed to making a real change, together.
