Celebrating Our Scholars: DBE and SGSNY Partner to Support Commonwealth Students

We’re proud to share that the DBE and the St. George’s Society of New York (SGSNY) have partnered to support promising female scholars from Commonwealth countries.

This academic year, two outstanding psychology students at City College of New York, Nushrat Bushra and Deborah Cobourne, were honored with the prestigious St. George’s Scholarship. Both scholars learned about the DBE Scholarship through our network following this achievement. They were subsequently awarded additional support from the organization to complete their degrees at City College of New York.

DBE is an American 501(c)(3) organization of women of British or Commonwealth of Nations birth or ancestry (Formerly Daughters of the British Empire). The National organization awards scholarships annually to women of similar heritage. DBE New York is one of over thirty State organizations. They primarily support local charities caring for the health of seniors. They have four chapters that meet regularly and conduct a variety of activities.

We congratulate Nushrat and Deborah on their well-deserved recognition. SGSNY is excited to continue supporting promising scholars like them in partnership with the DBE.
