How did you come to learn about St. George's Society of NY?
Through friends who were members and events I had attended.
What is your favorite part of being an SGSNY member?
What I love most about being a member is the meaningful impact St. George’s has on their beneficiaries and the opportunities I have had to witness this firsthand when I’ve met and connected with them through volunteering with the Scholarship and Beneficiary Programs.
How has being a part of SGSNY helped you as a new New Yorker (personally and/or professionally)?
When I first moved to New York, I wasn’t feeling especially pulled to seek out a British community, I was just excited to meet new people - wherever they were from! Then I met new British friends and realized how much I’d been missing the banter and sense of connection! I was soon introduced to SGSNY, and we’d attend events together, which then helped me expand both my social and professional circles. In turn, this led to me volunteering and getting to learn more about SGSNY and the important work they do! It’s great to have a community away from home where you get to connect with familiar faces, meet new ones and help support people and meaningful causes too!
What is your favorite place in NYC? What is your favorite restaurant or meal since you've been here?
It’s impossible to pick one place … but I have to say Nolita which was my home for the first 6.5 years of living in NYC. I have most definitely tried and tested many restaurants and eaten a lot of great food over the past 13 years! I recently went back to an old favorite after a few years, which has made its way back to the top of my list - Rubirosa on Mulberry St is my favorite for pizza!
