David Martinelli, Jessica Sims and Charlotte Johannesen presenting to the new 2026/27 cohort of Scholars
On October 6, St. George’s Society of New York welcomed its newest cohort of scholars at a Scholar Orientation session. The evening brought together 24 talented CUNY students preparing for their final year of university, marking the beginning of an exciting year of academic achievement, professional development, and new connections.
Meet the 2026/27 Cohort
This year’s cohort reflects the diversity and talent of New York City’s student community.
24 Scholars: 13 women and 11 men completing their final year of study.
10 Commonwealth Nations: Bringing together students from across the Commonwealth, including Bangladesh, Barbados, Ghana, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom.
A Range of Disciplines: Pursuing degrees in fields including Computer Science, Nursing, Biology, Healthcare Policy & Management, Human Services, Social Work, Finance, and Data Science.
An Evening of Connection
The orientation gave scholars the opportunity to meet fellow recipients, learn about program resources and upcoming events, and receive professional headshots.
Our partner, CareerSpring, also shared details on their platform which provides the students with career development resources designed to help them navigate the transition from university into the professional world.
Since 2008, St. George’s Society has supported hundreds of CUNY students through its Scholarship Program, helping them overcome financial barriers and achieve their academic goals.
We are proud to welcome this year’s cohort and grateful to our members, donors, and partners whose generosity makes this support possible. We look forward to following our scholars’ progress as they complete their degrees and take their next steps.
Here’s to a successful 2026/27 academic year for our newest scholars!
