Member Spotlight: Meet Tokiah Kennedy

Meet Tokiah Kennedy

Originally from Sheffield, England, Tokiah Kennedy has built her career and community in New York City with a strong focus on connection, innovation, and giving back. With over a decade of experience in technology and operational leadership, she has led and scaled technology platforms across multiple industries and countries. Tokiah discovered the St. George’s Society of NY through a “Brits in Tech” event and has been an active member since 2024.

  1. How did you get involved with SGSNY?

I first learned about the St. George’s Society while attending a “Brits in Tech” event for startup founders in Midtown Manhattan, which happens to be led by one of our fellow members, Tori Hanson. I’d initially moved to the US 11 years earlier and, surprisingly, hadn’t really connected with any Brits in the city during that time. Discovering the Society and a vibrant community of trailblazing Brits was a welcome and unexpected surprise, to say the least. I joined in 2024 and haven’t looked back!

  2. What’s your favorite part of being an SGSNY member?

My favorite part is the shared sense of community and contributing to a worthy cause. I genuinely enjoy connecting with fellow members, attending British-themed events, networking gatherings, and participating in volunteering opportunities. There’s something incredibly comforting about being able to celebrate a little piece of home while being in New York.

  3. How has being part of SGSNY helped you as a newer New Yorker (personally and/or professionally)?

Being a member of SGSNY has helped me feel more connected in the city. Professionally, the networking events have been a great way to meet inspiring, like-minded people across multiple industries. Personally, it is rewarding to support the Society’s charitable mission and feel part of something that gives back in a tangible way.

  4. What’s your favorite place in NYC? Favorite food or meal you’ve had since moving here?

Food-wise, one of my all-time favorites has to be the chicken parm from Quality Italian. It’s one of the best I’ve had. My favorite place in NYC is honestly anywhere I can get a breathtaking view of the skyline. Lately, my favorite observatory deck has been The Edge. The views are incredible and it always gives me that “pinch me” moment.
