An Update Regarding the English Ball

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of St. George’s Society of New York’s 250th Anniversary English Ball. We had hoped to reschedule the gala for later in the year, but unfortunately, that will not be possible. This difficult decision was made out of deep concern for the health and well-being of our community at large, and with the full support of our Board of Directors, the honorees and our Presenting Sponsor, Aon.

As you may know, the English Ball is the Society’s largest and most important fundraiser—accounting for approximately 60% of our annual income. The financial impact of the absence of this event during this important year cannot be understated. More than ever, we need our community to come together and help St. George’s Society emerge from this challenging situation on a stable financial footing.

Earlier this year, our President challenged members to help us raise $2.5 million to secure the Society’s future and expand our capacity to serve. In light of these challenging times, I extend his call to our entire community. If you’re in a position to support us, we hope you will do so. Now, more than ever, St. George’s Society needs your support.

I greatly appreciate those of you have called, emailed and reached out to ask about our team and our beneficiaries. We are well and doing all we can to ensure the safety and security of the seniors, students and families that depend on us. Over the past weeks, we have been heartened by the outpouring of kindness from our community and are deeply grateful for those who have supported us during these difficult times. We will continue to share further updates via our website and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn).

As always, thank you for being part of our community and for your continued support during this time.

Be well and take care.
