Join Pegasus: The Orchestra for an extraordinary evening of classical string repertoire celebrating one of Britain's most influential 20th-century composers, Benjamin Britten.

Held at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, this 10th Anniversary Season opener highlights celebrated masterworks alongside featured soloists from within the orchestra.

• Featured British Masterpiece: Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony (Op. 4), composed in 1934 using themes written during his childhood in Suffolk, England. Britten remains a towering figure in British cultural history and 20th-century music.

• Featured Soloists: Concertmaster Ruggero Allifranchini (Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center) and principal oboist Noah Kay performing Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe, alongside Haydn’s Violin Concerto.

• Special Selection: Principal cellist Ari Evan featured in Azarashvili’s Cello Concerto.

Lord Benjamin Britten (1913–1976) was a central figure of 20th-century British classical music, renowned for establishing modern English opera and orchestral traditions. Composed at age 20 while completing his studies at London's Royal College of Music, Simple Symphony weaves eight boyhood melodies into an English string ensemble showcase.
