SGSNY Mentor Application
The goal of our Mentoring Program is to provide guidance and support for student success, with an emphasis on career development, preparation for graduate school, leadership, goal setting, and character/life building skills. Mentoring is about helping our students learn through a one-to-one relationship and becoming more self-aware, taking responsibility for decisions and focusing rather than leaving things to chance. It is helpful in transferring knowledge, promoting best practices at work, helping guide the leaders of tomorrow.
A mentor should help the mentee believe in their abilities and build their confidence. A mentor should ask questions and challenge, while providing guidance and encouragement. Mentoring allows the mentee to explore new ideas in confidence and is a chance to look more closely at the issues, opportunities and goals.
There will be regular check-ins for updates. Please note that we may reach out to you for a testimonial or you may be featured on our website to highlight your work with our scholarship recipients.
